im confused.
im really confused by something. im not saying this in a sarcastic way at all, so if someone or multiple people can explain it to me thatd be great:
the bailout failed because the votes in congress "the opposition included 133 Republicans and 95 Democrats, while 140 Democrats and 65 Republicans supported the bill." (nytimes)
but the mccain campaign released this statement:
“The bill failed because Barack Obama and the Democrats put politics ahead of country.”
but the majority of people opposing the bill were republican. i really dont get it. im going to try to read more but can someone explain this to me? please?

If there is one thing that's true at present time, facts are malleable and opinion is easily confused for fact. That said, McCain has put a lot of talk and energy into his leadership on the bailout because economics are a big weak point for him given the state of the economy and his historic lack of knowledge in this area. Therefore, when the bailout failed, he moved first to blame it on Obama and the democrats before anyone could blame it on him. Ironically, he then called for an end to partisan politics to pass some sort of plan. I can't keep track of McCain or his opinions and I certainly can't see the logic. Obama has taken a much more hands off approach, at the risk of appearing to lack leadership in the nation's time of need. I believe that Congress needs to be pressured and the candidates can best do that using their bully pulpit on the road much more than sticking presidential politics into the bailout negotiations, ie McCain messed up by going to Washington via NY.
Long answer to a simple question. Hope all is well!
